JAMESTOWN, N.Y.-After winning both games of Tuesday's doubleheader against Mahoning Valley, the Jamestown Jammers' bid for a series sweep fell short as they dropped the finale to the Scrappers, 2-1, Wednesday at Russell Diethrick Park.
Jamestown pushed one run across in the bottom of the first inning on back-to-back doubles from Harold Ramirez and Adam Frazier to take the early lead.
In the fourth inning, Mahoning Valley's Nellie Rodriguez tied the game at one run apiece with his ninth home run of the season, and the Scrappers got the go ahead run in the eighth when Rodriguez singled home Claudio Bautista.
Dovydas Neverauskas allowed one run over five innings, striking out five batters and walking just one. Will Kendall took the loss on the mound after allowing one run in three innings, and Axel Diaz pitched a scoreless eighth for Jamestown.
Ramirez's two hits were tops for the Jammers' offense. Frazier, Jin-De Jhang, and Elvis Escobar were the only other players to record hits.
The Jammers will be in State College Thursday and Friday to take on the Pinkney Division-leading Spikes. The two teams will finish a suspended game from earlier in the season and play two more full games. Jamestown stays on the road for a two-game set against Williamsport, and finishes the regular season with a three-game series against State College at Russell Diethrick Park.
