With September and football season fast approaching, the YHS Alumni is sending a reminder to alumni of the events planned for this years' Alumni Homecoming weekend: Homecoming Parade, tour of the YHS, Alumni cheering on the mighty Eagles to victory, Alumni breakfast, Youngsville business welcoming alumni, celebrating with an Open House at the popular teen hang-out, Abplanalp's Dairy Bar, remembering the 'good ole days' of cars w a Cruise -in/Poker Run, a Dinner Dance with past teacher, alumni, friends and guest of honors, Jack and Florence Abplanalp, unknowingly being a big part of creating teenage memories of growing up and attending YHS.
Jack and Florence Abplanalp will be the Guests of Honor at the YHS Alumni Dinner/Dance during Homecoming Weekend, Sept. 21, 2013.
Organizers would like to honor them as they were an important part of the community's teenage years.
The public has been invited to stop and share memories with Jack and Florence on Saturday from 1-3 p.m. at the Dairy Bar and the evening for dinner/dance at Youngsville Fire Hall.
To make a reservation for a table and for dinner reservations, call 563-4060. Dinner reservations are due by Sept. 7. The public is invited to attend. A special invitation to the 'car hops', and 'waitress' employed at Abplanalp's. Past waitresses are invited.
The dinner/dance will be held Sept. 21 at the Youngsville Firehall. Doors open at 5 p.m. with dinner served at 5:30. Dinner reservations are required. Dinner $10.00; dance tickets $10.00. Youngsville Elementary Middle School will hold an open house Tuesday.
5:30 - 5:40 p.m.: Doors Open & Parents can tour the school and make their way to their child's assigned homeroom

Presentations: Elementary teachers will hold two presentations in their classrooms to discuss their requirements, procedures and expectations
Middle Level teachers will meet as a team in the following classroom(s) 6th Grade: Room 307; 7th Grade: Room 304 and 8th Grade: Room 306.
Special Teachers will be located in their classrooms to discuss their requirements, procedures, and expectations.
During breaks parents will be able to tour the school, locate the library cafeteria, gym, and speak with administration or our transportation secretary.
Youngsville Evangelical United Methodist Church will hold a benefit dinner for Joy Camigliano to help defray medical costs. The dinner will be on Saturday, Sept. 7, from 4 - 7 pm at Youngsville EUM Church, 18 Second Street, Youngsville, The cost is a donation and the menu is spaghetti with bread, salad and homemade pie. The Youngsville Girls Volleyball team will have a scrimmage game against Tidioute Charter School Sept. 3 at 6 pm at YHS.
Saron Lutheran Church, W. Main St., Youngsville, will offer a spaghetti and meatball dinner on Sunday, Sept. 15, starting at 5 p.m. The menu consists of spaghetti and meatballs, Italian bread, salad, ice cream for dessert and beverage for $6 with kids under 6 eating free. The proceeds from the dinner go towards World Vision and Lutheran World Relief. Any questions you can call 563-7850.
Thanks to the generous donations by local businesses and community members, Youngsville Public Library's 8th Annual "Summer Super-Reader" program was able to continue to award incentive gift certificates and prizes to all readers from Kindergarten-12th grade. The six week program is designed to encourage kids to read for grab-bag prizes, raffle-ticket chances, and a t-shirt.
"Without the sponsorships and donations from local businesses and community members the Library truly would not be able to continue to offer this worthwhile and educationally sound program," stated Library Director, Kristy Wallace.
