GROVE CITY-For the second time in as many matches, the Warren Dragons boys golf team wound up tied with Slippery Rock, and again lost the tiebreaker to finish fourth in Monday's Region 3 megamatch at Grove City Country Club.
"The scores were all up from top to bottom," said Dragons coach Dan Passmore. "Anthony Deppas had a good round and Austin Schwanke had a good round. They were where we need them to be."
Grove City took advantage of playing on its home course, finishing first with a team score of 341. Meadville was second with 349, Slippery Rock and Warren tied at 357, and Oil City finished with 372.
Nate Sandberg led the way for Warren, shooting an 84, which was the second best individual score of the day. Anthony Deppas shot an 88, Austin Schwanke finished at 92, Andrew Gignac 93, Nick Giambone 97, and Taylor Knowlton 110.
Grove City's Matt Gordon led all golfers with a 74 on the day.
The Dragons next match will be September 3 in a region megamatch at Blueberry Golf Course. Warren won the last meet at Blueberry with a team score of 325.
