The parade at the annual Russell Volunteer Fire Department's Firemen's Jubilee had plenty of fire trucks and ambulances. and more than enough candy to go around,
Children lined the streets, some prepared with bags to haul their loot home later. Thinking ahead, Zem Zem clowns brought up the rear in the parade, handing out toothbrushes to kids, who accepted them with puzzled looks on their faces.
Afterwards, many went to the firehall for a chicken dinner and some participated in games like a children's bicycle slow race and an bicycle obstacle course. The kids who could ride the slowest, thereby taking the longest time without touching their feet to the ground, won.
