The Brokenstraw Valley Swimming Pool will host a breast cancer awareness week on July 15-20 that will end with a 5K fun run on Saturday.
"Anyone is welcome to come up on the morning of the 20th and sign up," Jayda Haight, Brokenstraw Valley Swimming Pool manager, said. "We wanted to do something to help the community. We know some people that have had breast cancer, so we just decided we'll do a week to support that and go all out with it."
The 5K will start on Saturday, July 20 at 9 a.m. and will start and end at the pool. There is a $5 registration fee for the 5K and participants can register at the pool at 8 a.m. The race will go through Youngsville and back up the hill to the pool; a map will be provided to participants.

"The whole week we're going to have the raffles going on, we're going to have a booth set up in our lobby at the pool so people can see the items and can buy tickets to win a basket," said Haight.
A Chinese auction will be held after the race.
Haight is also encouraging residents to sponsor a lifeguard from the pool in the lifeguard competitions that will take place at the end of the week. Anyone interested in sponsoring a lifeguard can stop by or call the pool at 563-9570.
