The following activities are planned at Chapman State Park this weekend:
July 4 will be Fish for Free Day all day, no license needed. All other regulations apply. A Family Fishing Program will be held from 9 a.m. to noon. Join the Park Naturalist for a morning of fishing. Poles and bait will be provided. No fishing license required. Participants will receive a bag full of free stuff while supplies last. Meet at Pavilion #1.
On Friday, a Red, White and Blue Scavenger Hunt will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. How many red, white and blue items can you find in nature? Prizes will be awarded. Meet at the Park Amphitheater.
Friday evening, there willb e a movie, "Season of the Bear," from 9 to 10:30 p.m. Enjoy Volume 1 as you watch the American Black Bear up close and personal. Watch as bears climb trees and mothers raise their young in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee. Meet at the Amphitheater. (Pavilion #4 in case of rain).
Saturday will include an Eco-Sand Sculpture Competition from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Are you up for the challenge? Come out to the beach to learn about ecosystems and enter a nature-themed sculpture into the contest. Small prizes and certificates will be awarded to winners. Please bring your own sand equipment. Meet at the beach for this program.
"The Elusive Bobcat" will be the topic from 8 to 9 p.m. Saturday. Join Dave Donachy, from the Pennsylvania Game Commission to learn about the secretive life of this animal. Meet at the amphitheater.
On Sunday, a non-denominational church service will be held at the park amphitheater at 10 a.m. The Warren County 3D Archery Series is planned Sunday at Chapman.

The concession stand - with boat rentals/snacks/ice/firewood, etc. - is open from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m Saturday and Sunday; and noon to 6 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday (closed Tuesdays). Use your camping receipt to receive a 10-percent discount on boat and bike rental.
