A Warren County School District administrator has been selected to lead the Harbor Creek School District.
Director of Pupil Services Patricia Hawley-Horner said in an email to the Times Observer that she was approved as superintendent at a board meeting held on June 20. Her first day at Harbor Creek will be July 1.
"It's an honor to be appointed the Superintendent of Harbor Creek School District and it is a privilege to have the opportunity to follow the Superintendent, Dr. (Richard) Lansberry," she said. "I am thankful for the opportunity to serve the Harbor Creek community but I will miss Warren County School District."
Prior to serving in central office, Hawley-Horner served as a teacher, academic coach, assistant principal in addition to principal at Russell Elementary School.
"Warren County School District has provided me with opportunities to broaden my professional career over the last nine years," she said. "I have enjoyed working for the District and appreciate the support provided to me during my tenure. I hope that I have contributed back to the students, families, educators, staff and community equally.
"WCSD truly has great people working throughout the District," she added. "I would like to extend my appreciation to the professional, support staff and central office administrative staff for their contributions to education in (the) WCSD."
Ruth Nelson, who most recently served as principal at Warren Area Elementary Center, was appointed as an interim director at a special meeting held on May 28. Nelson will serve as interim director of pupil services, according to the district website.
