Gilbert Thomas Haight, 83, of High St., Youngsville, PA, passed away Tuesday, May 21st, at Warren General Hospital. He was born in Ludlow, Pa. on May 1, 1930, a son of the late Eva May and Winfield Haskel Haight.
Gib was a graduate of Youngsville High School and went on to serve his country in the US Navy in 1948 and 1949 where he was stationed on the USS Boxer Air Craft Carrier. He was employed at the National Forge Company in Irvine for 41 years. Gib was a member of the AMVETS in Sugar Grove. He loved hunting, fishing, golfing, pitching horse shoes, vacationing in Florida, and going to the Flea Markets. He was a member of the Allegheny Community Center in Warren and also belonged to the Silver Sneakers Class at the YMCA.
Surviving are a Son, Curt (Anneliese) Haight, of Youngsville, PA; a Daughter, Barbara (Tom) Perrin, of Irvine, PA; a Son, Burt (Wendy) Haight, of Dunns Eddy, PA; a Daughter, Sandi (Steve) Ostrander, of South Carolina, PA; and a dear Sister, Ruth Mason, of Youngsville, PA.
Also surviving are Grandchildren, Joe (Yvette) Perrin, Matt (Jody) Perrin, Nichole Haight, Cathy (Terry) Youngberg, Tammy (Johnny) Johnson, Brian (Carrie) Hendrickson, Jake, Jayda, Jesse, Jerica, and Cody Haight, Leslie, Danielle, and Julia Bailey; Great Grandchildren, Krissy and Chase Perrin, Leah Carpenter, Landon Haight, Sydney and Emily Youngberg, Jeremy, Sam, Taylor, Aidon, and Ethan Hendrickson, Kennedy Walters, Devon, Gage, and Koby Hendrickson, Nicholas Humphrey, Chelsea and Logan Morrison, Allison and Madelyn Johnson, Carson Rutherford, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Myrna, whom he married Sept. 29, 1950 and who died March 21, 2012; an infant son and daughter; 2 grandchildren, Eric Henrickson, and Ashley Haight Dean and her husband Derrick.
Friends are invited to call on Thursday from 68 p.m. at McKinney Funeral Homes, 54 West Main Street, Youngsville, and also on Friday from 10 11 a.m. at the funeral home, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Youngsville Cemetery.
