The Youngsville Eagles lost a hard-fought battle against Seneca on Monday evening, falling to the Bobcats in extra-innings, 9-4, at Youngsville High School.
Youngsville quickly jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning. Kennedy Cratty and Elyssa Horn reached on back-to-back singles, and Cratty came around to score on an errant throw. Haley Gray then knocked in a run with a base hit, and a third run scored on an error.
Horn was also the starting pitcher for the Eagles, and made the lead stand up until the fifth inning, when the Bobcats tied the game up. Youngsville was fortunate to get out of the inning without sustaining further damage, as Seneca had runners on second and third with no outs but couldn't bring either home.

Right on it
Youngsville’s Kennedy Cratty gets the barrel of her bat right on the ball during the Eagles’ game against Seneca on Monday at Youngsville High School. Cratty finished with a pair of hits and a run scored, but the Eagles fell in extra innings, 9-4.
After Seneca scored one run in the sixth to take a 4-3 lead, the Eagles answered back immediately to tie the game. Both teams went scoreless in the seventh inning to force extra innings.
The Bobcats took control in the eighth, recording two straight doubles and a home run. They would plate a total of five runs in the inning to put the game out of hand.
"We hit the ball right at them," Youngsville coach Ron Jameson said. "That's just the way it goes sometimes. They just outhit us."
Horn struck out three Bobcats while taking the loss, but the defense behind her didn't help much, committing eight errors.
Kennedy Cratty, Horn and Kelsey Anderson each finished with two hits for the Eagles, and Anderson's double was the team's only extra-base hit.
Youngsville (5-6) will host Rocky Grove on Tuesday.
