COUDERSPORT - Eisenhower's boys track team defended its Coudersport Invitational team track title on Friday.
Last year, the Knights won by one point.
It was an even better day this time around.
The Knights had 13 personal-best performances, according to assistant coach Ryan Hoffman, and earned medals - being in the top six in their respective events - in all but three events, and topped second-place Port Allegany, 137-111.
To start off, the 4X400 relay team of Matt Eernisse, Andrew Onoratti, Ben Perkins and Jake VanHouten finished first in a meet-record 3:31.83, and was 1.6 seconds off their school-record time.
Other firsts included Perkins in the pole vault, and VanHouten in the triple jump.
VanHouten was second in the 300 hurdles - his bread-and-butter, and finished .03 seconds off school-record time in 40.73 seconds. Richard Knisley was third and Tim Lange fourth in the same event to show Ike's depth.
Other medalists included: Knisley, second, and Jason Adams, fourth, in 110 hurdles; Matt Eernisse, with a big day, second in each of 100, 200 and 400; Anthony Amroski, second in the one mile and sixth in 2-mile; Devin VanGuilder, fourth in one mile; Cody McMillen, sixth in one mile; Perkins, third in the 200 and fifth in the 400; Knisley sixth in 800 and fourth in javelin; Onoratti, fourth in high jump and fifth in triple jump; VanHouten, second in long jump; the 4X100 relay team of Josh Eernisse, Lange, Andy Decker and Gus Bauer, fourth, and; the 4X800 relay team of VanGuilder, McMillen, Amroski and Mat Jewell, second.
The Lady Knights finished sixth out of 10 teams, and had several personal-bests, and medalists that included:
The second-place 3,200 relay team of Courtney Jewell, Erica Littlefield, Mollie Marsh and Lindsey McMillen; Sidney Wallin, fourth, 100 hurdles; Taylor Talasky, second in 100, and fourth, 200; Lacey Stanko, fourth, 100, and third, 200; Tara Sleeman, sixth, 100; the 400 relay team of Holly Chapman, Emily McJunkin, Tara Sleeman and Talasky, third; Aprille Seamens, fourth, 300 hurdles; Bizz Baran, fifth, 800; the 1600 relay team of Baran, Kate Daugharthy, Seamens and Talasky, third; McJunkin and Seamens tied for fourth in high jump, and; Seamens tied for third in pole vault.
"The competition was pretty good today," said Ike girls coach Mike Logue.
