Marijuana plants valued at approximately $500,000 have been seized from locations approximately two mile north of the New York border on Busti-Sugar Grove Road.
According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office, at approximately 8:45 a.m. on April 30. the Chautauqua County Sheriff's SWAT team, along with members of the Southern Tier Regional Task Force and the Lakewood-Busti Police Department, executed two search warrants at 515 and 529 Busti-Sugar Grove Road.
As a result of the simultaneous searches, police found what they described as, "a sophisticated marijuana growing operation," at 515 Busti-Sugar Grove Road. According to a police media release, 582 marijuana plants and a loaded shotgun were seized.
Meanwhile, police found a quantity of marijuana and another controlled substance during the search of the location at 515 Busti-Sugar Grove Road.
As a result of the search at the location at 529 Busti-Sugar Grove Rd., John Boardman, 31, Busti, and Brad Strickland, 26, Busti, will each be charged with unlawfully growing marijuana and criminal possession of marijuana in the 2nd degree.
As a result of the search at the location at 515 Busti-Sugar Grove Rd., Boardman and Jennifer Grundstrom, 29, Busti, will each be charged criminal possession of marijuana in the 5th degree and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 7th degree.
Boardman and Grundstrom are listed as residing at 529 Busti-Sugar Grove Rd., while Strickland is listed as residing at 515 Busti-Sugar Grove Road.
Warrants were issued by Chautauqua County Court Judge John T. Ward based on information from the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force.
The arrests were the culmination of a two-month long investigation.
