Elaine Dudenhoeffer Beveridge, age 83, of Erie, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday April 27, 2013 at the Sarah A. Reed Apartments. She was born in Erie on June 28, 1929, a daughter of the late George M. and Edith R. Stadler Dudenhoeffer.
She was a 1948 graduate of Academy High School, and was a longtime member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. She enjoyed camping and fishing at Chapman Dam, crocheting, wintering in Florida where she made many "lifetime" friends, playing cards with her grandchildren especially 500 Rummy, teaching family her "special recipes", and the meaningful holiday traditions she kept with her family. Elaine was a member of the North East VFW Ladies Auxillary
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, William S. Beveridge in 2011, and a sisterinlaw Ann Dudenhoeffer.
Family was her life and she is survived by her four children, William Beveridge IV and his wife Ginger of Erie, David Beveridge and his wife Beth of Anchorage, Alaska; two daughters, Karen Rebar and her husband Bob of Oxford, PA, and Kathy Mizak and her husband Kevin of Russell, PA; one brother, William "Dude" Dudenhoeffer; 14 grandchildren, Jonathan Beveridge, Maggie Damonti, Tory Shatto, Christopher, Bryan, Daniel and Sara Rebar, Mark, Kara and Gregory Mizak, Nathanael, Joshua, Abigail and Andrew Beveridge, and two greatgrandsons, Dylan Beveridge and Graeson Rebar. Elaine is further survived by many friends who have become her chosen family.
Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd. Erie, 16504 on Friday from 2 to 5PM and 7 to 9PM, and are invited to a prayer service there on Saturday morning at 11:45AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church at 12:30PM. Entombment will follow in Mary Queen of Peace Cemetery.
