TITUSVILLE - Eisenhower has Titusville's number.
At 2-5 overall and 2-3 in Region 4, both of Ike's wins have come against Titusville - the first time ending the Rockets' 4-0 start and now less two weeks later.
"This is a big win," said Eisenhower coach Jon Vincent, after his Knights' 6-2 win on Friday. "The kids are all happy and the coach is happy."
Number one, Eisenhower got its offense going early with a two-run home run in the top of the first inning off the bat of Kyle Hunt.
"It was a big boost," said Vincent. "It fired us up and sort of took the wind out of their sails right from the start."
Coty Cantrell also provided a spark fromt he leadoff spot, finishing 3-for-3 with two runs, reaching base four times.
In the fifth, Cantrell singled and two walks followed, with Hunt and Ryan Williams getting RBI groundouts.
Leading 5-1, Jeb Fedorchuk's bunt single scored Logan Bellardo after the throw went down the right-field line.
"We finally hit the ball where we needed to with guys on," said Vincent.
Number two, Casey Vincent shut Titusville down, scattering eight hits and striking out 11 with just one walk. He's struck out 23 in his last two games.
"He was really in control the whole game," said Vincent, adding that the Knights committed just one error in the field.
