There was a chill in the air at Old Legion Field Saturday afternoon, but the Warren bats stayed red hot from start to finish.
The Dragons slugged out a 13-8 victory over General McLane, their first Region 7 opponent of the year, to improve their overall record to 2-2.
"It was a good game," said Warren coach Rick Eaton. "We got clutch hits when we needed them and made the plays in the field. It's good to get the first league win."

Warren’s Jason Stanton legs out a bunt single during the second inning of the Dragons’ 13-8 win over General McLane at Old Legion Field in North Warren. The Dragons are now 2-2 overall and 1-0 in region play.
The Dragons wasted no time jumping on the visitors, as junior first baseman Jason Stanton poked a single through the right side of the infield, driving in Collin Fantaskey and John White for a 2-0 lead.
Matt Hultquist kept things rolling with a single that skipped past a General McLane outfielder to score Stanton while advancing to second on the error. Tanner Stanz singled and Carter Cerra drew a walk to load the bases, and Tanner Teconchuk singled home Hultquist, making it a 4-0 game before the Lancers could record an out in the inning. The Dragons would push one more run across on an Austin Schwanke sacrifice fly to take a 5-0 advantage after one.
McLane answered back with a big inning of its own, scoring four runs in the top of the second to make it a one run game.
Stanz - Warren's starting pitcher - helped his own cause once again in the bottom of the second with a sacrifice fly to score White, courtesy running for catcher Todd Fasenmyer.
Designated hitter Eddie Ord drove in Hultquist and Cerra on single in the bottom of the fifth inning, and the Dragons went on to put up another 5-spot in the sixth for "a little breathing room," according to Eaton.
Fasenmyer led off the big sixth inning with a double, Stanton walked, Hultquist singled, and Stanz drew a walk to bring home a run, before Teconchuk cleared the bases with a three-run single. Teconchuk would eventually score himself on a wild pitch, giving Warren a comfortable 13-4 lead heading into the final inning.
The Lancers answered back with another four runs in the seventh, but Collin Fantaskey was able to shut the door and secure the win for the Dragons.
Stanz earned the win on the mound for Warren, giving up two earned runs in five innings of work before giving way to Fantaskey to close the game. Stanz struck out five.
Hultquist, Stanton, Teconchuk, and Ord all had multi-hit performances, with Teconchuk's three RBI leading the way for the Dragons' offense.
Warren will face a full schedule of games next week, beginning Monday when the Dragons play host to McDowell at Old Legion Field in North Warren. Following the non-region match-up with the Trojans, the Dragons will return to region play against Corry and Girard, and close out the week with another non-region game against Strong Vincent.
