Francis J. Notoro represented himself in sentence court before Judge Maureen Skerda on Friday on one count of institutional vandalism for damaging a door.
When Judge Maureen Skerda asked him if he was not adjusting to the Warren County Jail, Notoro said he is not getting the mental health help he needs. He said he was receiving counseling at an earlier date for post traumatic stress disorder, resulting from his military service in Iraq in 2006 and 2007.
Skerda agreed that he needed additional help, and sentenced him to 90 days to two years in a state correctional institution that specifically has special mental health needs units. He was also fined $250, ordered to pay $3,370 in restitution for damage he caused while incarcerated and $150 in costs, and to receive a drug and alcohol evaluation.
Notoro is awaiting sentencing on one count of simple assault and one count of endangering the welfare of a child. He was also serving time for violation of two protection from abuse orders.
