Sophia Sylvia Prodromou passed away peacefully with her family at her side on March 25, 2013. She was born to Constantine and Dorothy Spiridon in Warren, Pennsylvania on August 29, 1929 and lived most of her life in Pennsylvania. In 2007 she moved to San Rafael, California to be near her family.
She married Theodore Prodromou, who preceded her in death in 2007. They were married for 56 years and she was heartbroken when she lost her husband and best friend. She was a loving mother to her children Mary (Miodrag), Constance, and Theodore (Ellen), and grandchildren Kyle, Charlie, Thomas, Alicia, Greg, Michael, and Tyler. She is survived by a sister Helen Philliou (Peter) and a brother Dean Spiridon (Linda), and several nieces and nephews, as well as a great nephew. She loved nothing more than spending time with her family who were the joy of her life.
She attended Warren High School then the University of Rochester Nursing School before returning to Warren to get married and raise a family. She was active in the community, volunteering at the State Hospital in Warren, Girl Scouts, and in Elementary school classrooms helping to teach children to read. She was one of the founding members of the League of Women Voters. She was a talented seamstress who also owned her own designer fabric business. After raising her children, she went back to work helping to operate the family restaurant. After relocating to Philadelphia, she worked for a bank, then Sears in the corporate offices as a buyer, until she retired. She was an avid reader, loved to cook, and do crossword puzzles.
