HARBOR CREEK - Warren made quick work of one of the best tennis teams in all of District 10 Friday, defeating Harbor Creek, 4-1, at Harbor Creek High School.
The victory was the Dragons' second of the season against the Huskies and pushed Warren's record to 4-0 on the season.
In windy and cool conditions, Shane Burns cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Harbor Creek's Trevor Osborne at first singles. Matt Sandberg followed Burns' victory with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Kyle Thomas and Sandberg's younger brother Nathan topped the Huskies' Hunter Kelly, 6-0, 6-3, to complete the singles sweep.
In top doubles play, the duo of Grayson Foley and Nick Tarpenning won a 6-2, 6-2 decision over their opposition. Warren's lone loss of the match came at second doubles were Ylli Bakalli and Liam Boger were defeated in three sets, 3-6, 6-2, 3-6.
"We have to give credit to the pair of Campbell and Varga as they forced the issue and gave us a great match today," said Warren coach Jeff Bartsch. "We had our chances, but had difficulty in putting the ball away today. I have to give credit to the Harbor Creek coach for agreeing to play us twice this year. They have a very good team and we may see them again in the District 10 Team Championships in May."
In exhibition play, Connor Clendenen recorded a singles win. The pair of Bryce Bauer and Phil Hachula recorded an 8-3 victory in exhibition doubles.
The Dragons are back in action Monday, hosting Corry.
