Easter Bunny arrival
The Easter Bunny is already in the town of Sugar Grove. The students at the SGFM Imaginative Preschool had a good time on Tuesday celebrating early with loads of goodies and their homemade Easter bunny. Pictured here is the Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 4-5 year old class.
The Sugar Grove United Methodist Church will present "The Journey to the Cross" as it may have been for Jesus. Parishioners have set up a self guided, meditative walk through stations that depict what Jesus' last days/hours before his crucifixion were like.
There will be someone to assist if needed, but visitors will be able to move though the stations at their own pace. The Journey is set up today and will be operating from 11 a.m. continuously through 7 p.m. The Sugar Grove United Methodist Educational Building is where the journey will begin and is located on Main Street/Race Street at the triangle in Sugar Grove.
Easter Sunrise Service
The Annual Sugar Grove Community Easter Sunrise Service will be held this year on Easter Sunday, at the United Methodist Church in Sugar Grove on Race Street. The early sunrise service will begin at 7 a.m. with music, readings, and message provided by all the local area churches. A light breakfast will be provided after the service. Everyone in the community is invited to attend this special service.
Easter Egg Hunt
The Sugar Grove American Legion Post #758 will host its Annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the post home. Children ages 12 and under are invited to attend this fun event.
SGES Ice Cream Social
The Sugar Grove Elementary School CPT will hold its annual Choice Auction and Ice Cream Social on Thursday, April 25. The proceeds from this event each year go to benefit the SGES students. This annual event is a lot of fun and well attended in our community. The Choice Auction has donated items sold through a ticket raffle.
Anyone can buy chances on items. In order for this event to be successful, they would greatly appreciate any donation you might be able to make. Past donations have been baked breads, pies, candies, craft items, new apparel, toys, games, gift certificates, even cash and gas. The ideas are limitless. The more donations received, the more tickets that will be sold to benefit the school. Contact the school office at 489-7851 to sign up to donate or for more information.

The Sugar Grove Elementary School CPT (Concerned Parent Teachers Organization) is taking applications from individuals interested in serving as an officer for the coming school year. If you are interested, you can pick up a application at the Sugar Grove Elementary School office.

We Are Bookin'
The Sugar Grove Free Library will be holding their 3rd Annual We are Bookin' 5K and 1-mile fun race on Saturday, April 13. The race will begin and end at the Sugar Grove Free Library with a start time of 10 a.m. Registration is open now for anyone wishing to take part in the event. Forms can be obtained at the Sugar Grove Free Library. The age groups for the event will be 18 and under, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49 and 50 plus. The first male and female overall winners and the top three male and female runners in each age group will be awarded No awards will be presented in the fun run/walk but all those under 12 will receive a participation certificate or ribbon.
The cost to take part in the 5K is $15 if you register on or before April 5th. After that date the cost will be $20. The cost to take part in the 1 mile fun run/walk is $10 if you register on or before April 5th. After that the cost will be $15. There will be event day registration at the Library from 9-9:30 a.m. T-Shirts are guaranteed for all those who register before March 30. All others will receive T-shirts as supplies last. All entry forms can be submitted to the Sugar Grove Free Library, P.O. Box 313, 22 Harmon Street, Sugar Grove 16350. The Community Lunches in the area continue to be well attended. All lunches begin at 11:30 a.m. Everyone is invited to attend one of the area Community lunches. Each month lunch is held on the 1st Friday at the Mission Covenant Church at the corner of Matthews Run and Jackson Run Road. On the 2nd Thursday of each month at the Sugar Grove United Methodist Church located at the corner of Race Street and Jamestown Street in the center of town. On the 3rd Wednesday of the month, at the Hessel Valley Lutheran Church located in Chandlers Valley. Everyone is invited to attend.
The Sugar Grove Library and the Sugar Grove Community is working to plan a unique event never done before in Warren County. This will be the first Sugar Grove Library Hunger games with a twist. It will be a community street fair that will involve good clean fun competitions and will provide nonperishable food items to fill the local food banks. This event will not only raise funds for the local library, it will assist in replenishing the area food banks. Local businesses are encouraged now to get in on the fun.

The American Legion Post #758 is hosting a Spring Luck Shoot on April 14. The event will begin at Noon and run until 5 p.m. Prizes will include steaks, ham, turkey and pies.
There will also be a raffle drawing for a rifle on that day. Tickets are available for purchase now and the winner will be drawn on that day. This event is open to all the general public. For more information, contact the American Legion Post #758.
EMHS Talent Show
The EMHS Journalism group will be hosting a talent show in the EMHS Gym on Thursday, April 4. The event will begin at 7 p.m. Any students from any WCSD schools wishing to register to participate or if you have questions about entering the event should e-mail Crystal Howe's at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Guidelines for the talent show will be: Each talent cannot exceed seven minutes, All talents and music must be approved by Miss Howe and must be school appropriate, You may compete with up to three other people, If you have specific music that needs to be played, you must provide the music. All participants must arrive at the event no later than 6:30 on April 4th, and if you sign up for this event you will be required to attend all meetings and rehearsals.
First day of fishing
The Lottsville United Methodist Church will celebrate the First Day of Fishing by hosting a pancake breakfast on Saturday, April 13. The breakfast will begin at 7 a.m. and run until 11 a.m. There will be pancakes, fresh sausage, juice, eggs and homemade fruit pies will be served to all hungry fishermen for a donation. Even if you are not planning to rise early and get out fishing, come over and enjoy the breakfast. All are welcome.
Glory Way Concert
The Lottsville United Methodist Church will welcome "Glory Way," a quartet from near Youngstown, Ohio, for a concert on Sunday, April 14. The concert will begin at 6 p.m. A donation will be collected to support their mission and future concerts.
Book Club News
For those interested in being a part of the Sugar Grove Free Library Book Club, the club features a new book each month. Anyone can obtain a copy of Stones from the River by Ursala Hegi. The club will meet to discuss this book April 29 at the Library. This is the story of a young dwarf girl who grows up during the rise of Nazism in Germany. Brush up on your German as there could be some German vocabulary in the book club selection. For more information on the Book Club, contact the local library.
The Sugar Grove Volunteer Fire Department will host a Turkey and Gun Party on April 6 at 7 p.m. at the firehall. The proceeds will assist with supporting the Eisenhower Wrestling Team.
