Diane Kelly 5K run
The 14th Diane Kelly Memorial 5K Run and Fun Walk will be held Saturday, beginning at 10 a.m. at the Warren County YMCA. Registration is from 8 to 9:45 a.m., and awards go to top finishers in several male and female age groups.
It's the first of three races in the 2013 Warren County YMCA Series Cup of Racing.
Diane Kelly was a youth swimming instructor and lifeguard at the YMCA until her passing in 1999, and invented the "tumble and splash" class that still runs today at the Y. All proceeds from the event are put back into the swimming program to purchase instructional materials, lifesaving equipment and to provide program scholarships.
Motorists are being asked to use extreme caution as race participants will be on the following roads: Lexington Ave., Pennsylvania Ave., Marion St., Madison Ave., Buchanan St., Jackson Ave., Jefferson St., and Conewango Ave.
