John J. Taydus, 85, of 216 Marshianne Rd., Pittsfield, Pa., passed away Monday March 11th, 2013 at his residence.
John was born on May 24, 1927 to the late Joseph and Victoria Witek Taydus. A graduate of Youngsville High School, he served in the United States Army. After the service, he was employed by the National Forge, working in the heat treat department where he later retired from. A lifelong resident of Garland, he was also a selfemployed farmer. John was an avid bowler and enjoyed hunting. He also loved music, especially Polka, and was a member of a country music band as a singer and guitarist. He was also a caller for square dancing.
Along with his parents, John was preceded in death by his first wife Lenore Baker Taydus, his second wife Charlotte Sedina Taydus, and an infant daughter. He was also preceded by his brothers Stanley Taydus, Walter Taydus, Frank Taydus, and Chuck Taydus, and a sister Mary Black.
John is survived by his sons, Jim (Beth) Taydus of Corry Pa., Dave (Robin) Taydus of Pittsfield, Pa., and John (Kim) Taydus of Garland, Pa., his daughters Vicki Hultberg of Pittsfield, Pa., Peg (Richard) Patterson of Columbus, Pa., Diane (Larry) Hajec of Garland, Pa., and Kim (Ron )Rafalski of Tidioute, Pa., 16 grandchildren, several greatgrandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call upon the Nelson Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 314 North Main St., Youngsville, on Thursday March 14th, from 58 p.m. and 1 hour prior to a funeral service that will be held there on Friday, March 15th at 11:00 a.m with the Rev. Ralph Culp, pastor of the Grand Valley and Sanford Churches. Burial will be in the Newton Cemetery in Grand Valley.
