Shake off the grayness of winter and get energized! Whether you are new to gardening, a lifelong green thumber, or simply a dabbler of dirt, "Come Grow with Us," sponsored by Penn State Master Gardeners of Warren County, will give you a jumpstart into this year's growing season with plenty of useful information, helpful techniques and creative ideas.
The event will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 13, at the Allegheny Community Center, 42 Clark St., Warren. Keynote speaker Denise Schreiber, author of "Eat Your Roses, Pansies, Lavender and 49 Other Delicious Flowers," will present "Edible Flowers." Denise started the popular Edible Flowers Food Fest held in Pittsburgh every July. She is the greenhouse manager for Allegheny County Parks and is a regular on KDKA's Sunday morning radio show "The Organic Gardeners."
Join in this day-long special event and enjoy these additional topics for novice and experienced gardeners: landscaping for birds, home and garden insects, gardening for health, growing-harvesting-preserving food, the versatility of herbs, nature photography, gardening basics, "lasagna" gardening, cheap-scaping, journaling, and gardening for community health.
