EXPORT, Pa. (AP) — A woman has been charged with stealing $253 from a man who gave her a ride when she was drunk and stranded on a western Pennsylvania highway.
Twenty-two-year-old Heidi Corey, of Delmont, faces a preliminary hearing on Sept. 23 on a charge of theft.
State police say a man was driving on U.S. Route 22 when he picked up Corey, about midnight July 28, when he saw her crying and visibly drunk. Corey told the man her friends had taken away her car keys so she couldn't drive home, so Corey offered her a ride but stopped for gas on the way.
The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review (http://bit.ly/Xhj8Nb ) reports that's when police say Corey took a bank bag from the man's vehicle containing money and check and ran away.
Court records don't list an attorney for Corey.
