The Rouse Senior lunches are furnished every third Monday of each month at noon by the congregation at Saron. The dinner is planned a month in advance and someone from the congregation makes the food. Helpers report to the back door of the Manor at 11:30 a.m. on Feb. 18 for this month.
Leap for Love

A Lenten soup supper will be held every Tuesday during Lent at 5:45 p.m. at the Saron Lutheran Church in Youngsville. The Maundy Thursday tureen dinner will be held at 6 p.m. with a service to follow.
Cabin Fever Corn
The YHS Softball Team will sponsor a Corn Hole Tournament on
Sat., Feb. 23, in the YHS gymnasium. Cost is $15 per team.
Registration begins at 11 a.m. and tournament begins at noon.

A meeting will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 26 at the Pittsfield Community Center at 7 p.m. Topics discussed will be the Easter egg hunt and election of officers. Packets are available for the 2013-2014 Kindergarten registration at Youngsville Elementary Middle School. Completed packets can be returned on Tues., Feb. 19th from 9 to 11 a.m. or 1 to 2:30 p.m.
The Youngsville Bicentennial Committee is raffling off a Valentine's Day basket. The basket includes an overnight stay for a family of four at the Hampton Inn of Warren, use of the pool, a continental breakfast, and goodies to go along with the stay. The basket is in the window of the Youngsville Pharmacy and tickets are available at the borough office, the Youngsville Pharmacy, and Heaven Scent. The price of the tickets is 1 for $1, 3 for $2, and a sheet of ten for $5. All proceeds go to benefit the Bicentennial Celebration June 28-30.
The ROY Store is already preparing for their Spring Reopening by having an Inventory Reduction Sale. The sale starts Feb. 15 to 23 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 106 East Main Street, Youngsville. The ROY Store shares space with the Bizarre Bazaar next to Allegheny Artistry Co-Op. It is time to make room for new items that the generous members of the community continue to donate to support ROY revitalization projects. Thanks to those who have donated to the Store in the past. Hopefully, as residents do their Spring cleaning they will continue to set aside those quality items that they no longer need for the ROY Store.
Money raised by the Store is used for grant matching funds, community events, etc. The new "Welcome to Youngsville" sign at the Western gateway to the town is the most resent project to use matching funds from ROY. The sign is located on the abandoned railroad pier between the Masonic Lodge and the old furniture factory. The money for the metal, animal silhouettes that are planned for each side of this sign has yet to be raised. Lighting for the sign is also in the long-range plan. Landscaping around the pier will be done in the spring. Hopefully, the visual clutter in the area will be relocated as well.
It is that time of the year again. It's time to show your appreciation for the eight years of cooperative work done by borough and community members to revitalize the community. It is also time to acknowledge the dedicated leadership of the ROY organization by joining or renewing your $10 Individual or $40 Business membership in The Revitalization Of Youngsville. The number of memberships translates as an approval rating of sorts for the amount of work done by the organization. An annual $10 individual membership is a small investment when compared to the volunteer hours and grant money acquired to improve Youngsville's infrastructure.
Railroad Street, the first phase of Streetscape, will start in February or March depending on the weather. The project will include new sidewalks, lighting, crosswalks, and a Ceremonial Entrance. While the street is torn up, the Borough is taking the opportunity to replace decaying water lines. As soon as the work on Railroad St. begins, Youngsville can reapply for funding to do phase II of Streetscape from the bridge to Bates Street. This Spring, the first phase of the Hike/ Bike Trail, will begin. By any standard, the $10 investment is a good return for the Community. Soup, pie lunch
Saron Lutheran Church is sponsoring a 'Take Outs Only" soup and pie lunch on Friday, March 1 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. You may call 563-7850 prior to Feb. 28 to order your lunch or the day of the lunch call 563-7662. Soups available are chicken noodle and cream of potato with a variety of pies available. You may either pick up your lunch at the church or it can be delivered to you. All of this is available for only $6.
Tickets on sale
Wine tasting tickets for the Fine Art and Vino Venue are now available at the Allegheny Artistry, Youngsville Pharmacy, Warren County Insurance, Allegheny Cellars Winery or by calling 814-730-2899. Pre-sale tickets with commemorative glass are $10 to those 21 or older, they will be $15 day of event. Please support the fund raising efforts of the Revitalization of Youngsville for downtown improvements and come out to have an entertaining afternoon with family and friends, vendor shopping, food, art and wine competitions. Admission is Free.
Love Your Library
The Friends of the Youngsville Library's Third Annual "Love Your Library" Basket Extravaganza fundraising event is going on now through March 18. For a $5 donation, participants will receive 10 tickets to be used toward the 8 uniquely themed baskets which are on display at the library.
The baskets will be given away in a "Chinese auction" manner and the names of the 8 winners will be drawn on March 18th. All the "Basket Extravaganza" ticket donations will directly benefit the Youngsville Public Library. "This has become the second major fundraiser for the Library after the September Book Sale.
For this year the Friends of the Library created 8 uniquely themed baskets. Each basket has a minimum value of $75 but most baskets are valued far above that," stated Library Director Kristy Wallace. "What makes this fundraising event so great is that there is a wide variety of high-quality baskets for people with all areas of interest. Also people have the opportunity to decide which basket or baskets interest them and can distribute their tickets accordingly.
So if you're lucky enough to win, you win something you wanted! We are also very grateful to all the businesses that have either donated specific items or gift certificates or as is the case of West Penn Oil Co. Inc. sponsored an entire basket. Without the help of Richards, Mugs Cafe, Dick's service center, Weidner's Deli, The Black Cat, The Galley, Youngsville Agway, Pete's Beverage, Outlet City, Youngsville Barnhart Davis, PVI, West Penn Oil Co., Inc., Tammy's Hairitage, and Sue's Beauty Salon the Friends wouldn't have been able to offer so many items per basket. Josie Gerardi and Pete Trask are donating homemade goodies and Peggy Olson donated a large, hand-crocheted afghan. Baskets themes include "Gift Card Tree", "Lottery Tree", "Garden Basket w/stepping stone", "Kitchen Basket", "A Cheese, crackers, & 'beverage' Basket", "Great for Guys", "Ladies Basket", and "Dinner & a Movie Basket" that has a $40 Applebee's card, $20 Dipson theater card, and a DVD."
