Youth reigned supreme on Thursday, especially when games were on the line. Sophomore Jacoby Passmore, left, scored nine of his season-high 18 points in the third quarter of Warren's crucial 75-54 Region 6 win over East to stay in the District 10 Class AAA playoff hunt. He scored six points in a 25-11 first quarter and nine in the 20-10 third, adding six rebounds for the game. He topped his 6.1 points-per-game average by three times. D.J. Hahn was in foul trouble on Thursday, but when Lady Dragons' coach Lisa Ruhlman needed someone to step up, the freshman scored 10 of her 13 points in a 14-6 fourth quarter to break a tie in a 40-32 non-league win over Kane. Hahn had an all-around good week, including helping her team beat Mercyhurst Prep for the first time since 2001 with 10 points and 16 points, 11 rebounds and five steals in a 60-33 win over Corry. For stepping up, Passmore and Hahn capped off the week by being named the Times Observer Athletes of the Week, sponsored by McDonald's.
