WAHS cheerleaders 33rd in Hershey

February 4, 2013
The Times Observer

McDowell's cheerleading squad placed sixth in the Large School division of the inaugural PIAA competitive spirit competition Saturday in Hershey - the best finish of seven District 10 schools at the event.

Warren was 33rd out of 40 Small School squads, just ahead of Wilmington. Fairview, the first-ever D-10 Small School champion, was 22nd. Warren was the D-10 Small School runner-up.

McDowell advanced past the preliminary round to make it to the finals.

Under the championship format, teams finishing among the top one-fourth of teams in each division in the preliminary round advanced to the final round after a 21/2-minute routine. Teams also were able to reach the finals via the call-back round, in which the next one-fourth of the teams in the standings competed for additional berths in the finals.
