If the final score of Monday's girls basketball game between Tidioute Charter and Warren County Christian School looks familiar, there's a reason.
The Lady Lions' 27-17 victory over the Lady Bulldogs Monday at WCCS featured the exact same final score as when the teams met January 7 at TCCS. Much like that game, this game featured plenty of tenacious defense as well as missed opportunities on offense.
Late in the second quarter, WCCS (4-5) was clinging to a slim 8-7 lead when a pair of quick buckets by Allyssa Kerr helped stretch the Lions' lead to 12-7. TCCS worked for a good look at the basket in the final seconds of the first half, but a blocked shot by WCCS' McKenna Phelps secured the five-point halftime edge for the hosts.

Tidioute Charter’s Casey Byers is guarded closely by Warren County Christian School’s Beth Root during the first half of a varsity girls basketball contest Monday at WCCS. The Bulldogs played hard, but missed out on the season’s first win, falling by a score of 27-17.
TCCS (0-11) watched the Lions extend the lead to eight points during the third quarter, but again the visitors cut into the lead. A three-point basket by Robbi Kightlinger got the Bulldogs within two with the third quarter clock winding down. However, WCCS would deliver the final blow of the third, taking a 17-13 lead after a bucket by Sarah Parmeter with 20 ticks left in the stanza.
The teams exchanged buckets early in the fourth and the Bulldogs would get as close as 19-17 after Allyvia Morgan's jumper with 3:57 remaining. That would be the last time the Bulldogs would score in the game with the Lady Lions closing the game on an 8-0 run.
WCCS' final flurry included a three-pointer from Dymphee Zortman, two-pointers from Allyssa Kerr and Desirae Kerr and a free throw from Beth Root.
Allyssa Kerr led the winners with 10 points with Parmeter and Desirae Kerr adding six points apiece. Kightlinger, Morgan Molek and Morgan all scored four points to lead Tidioute.
WCCS returns to action Tuesday at Erie First Christian while the Bulldogs visit North Clarion on Wednesday.
