The Woman's Club of Warren held its annual tea on Jan. 21 with speaker Marcy O'Brien, executive director of the Struthers Library Theater. She recounted the history of the theater from Thomas Struthers' donation of the library to the town of Warren until the present. The entire history is available in a two-volume set written by Mary Grishaver, and therefore O'Brien merely recounted the highlights and her involvement in the theater. Hopefully, in the future, the Struthers Theater will help to make Warren a "destination" attraction.
The tea was hosted by Judy Champlin with the assistance of the board of directors and many members who provided the "sweets and savories." The tea is free of charge and therefore a good opportunity to introduce prospective members to the club; many guests were in attendance.
It was noted that the calendar for speakers in February has changed. The next meeting will be a luncheon on Feb. 4. Featured speaker will be Karen Davis. Her topic is "Notable Past Presidents of the Woman's Club." Feb. 18 will feature Kathy Masterson speaking on "Historic Woman's Club Buildings in the United States." Reservations are required for each of these meetings by the Friday preceding the meeting.
