Eisenhower jumped back into the win column on Saturday, defeating former Tri-County Athletic Conference rival Rocky Grove, 65-41, at Eisenhower High School.

The Knights (5-10) dominated throughout the game, outscoring the Orioles in every quarter.

Eisenhower came out of the gate strong, jumping out to an early 13-4 lead with five different Knights contributing buckets in the opening five minutes. A couple of Ike turnovers late in the quarter allowed the Orioles to put together an 8-2 run and Ike led 15-12 after a quarter.

The teams traded buckets early in the second quarter, but the Knights went on an 8-2 run in the final minutes and pushed the lead to double digits by intermission.

Aaron Lundmark came out firing in the second half, scoring the first six points of the third stanza as the Knights continued to increase their lead. Rocky Grove went on a 7-0 run to cut Ike's lead to eight, but that was as close as the Orioles would come the rest of the way.

The Knights saved their best for last, thoroughly controlling the tempo in the fourth quarter and outscoring the Orioles, 19-8.

Cathedral Prep 68, Warren 59

A hot start wasn't enough for the Warren Dragons to upset a tough Cathedral Prep team Saturday afternoon as the Ramblers were able to overcome an early deficit and escape Warren Area High School with a 68-59 win.

Prep (15-2 overall, 2-0 Region 7) came into Saturday's game after back-to-back wins over McDowell and nationally ranked Bishop O'Connell (VA).

"We wanted to come out and get ready for the second half of our region schedule," said Warren coach Jeff Berdine. "Our guys played hard. It was a physical game and we didn't back down. We never play for moral victories, but there are a lot of positives to take away from a game like this."

The Dragons certainly didn't have a moral victory on their mind in the first quarter as they jumped out to a 21-11 lead over the visitors on the strength of 11 points from Matt Sandberg and eight more from Mark Davis.

When Warren's shooters cooled off, the Ramblers were just beginning to find their stroke. Prep outscored the Dragons 20-9 in the second quarter and 14-9 in the third to build a 45-39 lead heading into the final stanza.

Warren picked up the pace once again in the fourth, but Prep had an answer for everything the Dragons threw at them and the two teams traded baskets until the final buzzer.

"It was a good opportunity to see how we would perform against a great defense. We got to run through some of our set plays in the fourth quarter. We executed them well and got some good looks, which will help us against teams in our region," said Berdine.

Sandberg led the way offensively for the Dragons with 21 points - including five three-pointers - to go along with seven assists and six rebounds. Davis finished with 14 points and five blocked shots and Collin Fantasky added 14 points - a dozen of them coming in the fourth quarter.

Prep was led by the trio of Sheldon Zablotny, Conor Colpoys and Matt Harris, who scored 18, 16 and 15 points respectively.

The Dragons (8-5 overall, 3-3 Region 6) will return to region play on Tuesday when they travel to Harbor Creek. Warren won its first meeting against the Huskies on January 4, 66-51.

Cathedral Prep dominated the junior varsity game, 64-30. Austin Schwanke led the Dragons with nine points.
