Community comes together
American Legion Post 658 in Youngsville and representatives from local organizations gathered together on Thursday. Post Commander David VanHouten and other members of Post 658 presented the local organizations with checks to help where needed. Drug education receives funding
Youngsville Borough Police Chief Todd Mineweaser accepts a check from Commander David VanHouten of the Youngsville American Legion Post 658. In an effort to reach out and help local organizations that benefit the youth, Post 658 donated funds to several local entities to be used for specific purposes.

Post aids Brokenstraw Pool
Youngsville’s American Legion Post 658 Judge Advocate Jim DeVore presents Friends of Brokenstraw Valley Swimming Pool President Bill Slocum with a check to aid in keeping the pool open. Having secured enough funds to keep the pool open through 2013, the group now looks ahead to 2014.

Biddy teams receive aid
Ray Neidrick, Vice-Commander of Youngsville’s American Legion Post 658, presents a check to Andy Svedea, a coach for Youngsville Biddy Basketball. The donation will help to update supplies and pay for insurance. Biddy sports are not funded by the school district and rely heavily on donations.

Music Boosters receive donation
Commander David VanHouten of American Legion Post 658 in Youngsville presents Youngsville High School Choir Director Christina Montgomery with a check to help with the costs of the upcoming choir trip to Washington DC and the band’s trip to Ireland where they will perform in the Saint Patrick’s Day Parade. Montgomery accepted the check on behalf of Cindy Scheid who was unable to make the event.
