It was a banner week for the Warren Area High School swim team, with sweeps of Meadville last Thursday and East on Monday. The banner that literally came down off the wall were the names of the old record-holders in the 200-meter medley relay. The new names on the wall are, from left, in front, Logan Gearhart, Bennett Steber, Brad Walters and Cameron Daniels, who broke the old record of 1:58.76 with a time of 1:57.96 in the East meet on Monday at the Warren County YMCA. In the win, each of the four boys added two more wins in the 140-19 win. Oh, and the same four just broke the 200 medley relay record again last night vs. Mercyhurst Prep, in 1:57.31. They all had multiple wins in a 98-70 win at Meadville. On the girls' side, Ellis Beardsley, in back, continued her standout career - she was 4-for-4 in a 138-14 win over East, winning the 100 free and 200 free and was part of two winning relays on Monday. In an oh-so-slim 84-83 win at Meadville, Beardsley had winning and district-qualifying times in the 100 and 200 free, and was on the winning 200 free relay. The 84-83 win wasn't possible with a 2-3 finish in the last event - the 400 free relay, in which Mandy Fehlman, Megan Waterfield, Lacey Grinnen and Christine Kuzminski were second, and Lilya Renner, Lexi Gee, Emily Lookenhouse and Alexis Vavala third. There are a lot of Times Observer Athletes of the Week, sponsored by McDonald's, and they're all swimmers.
