Priscilla A. Kibbey, 82, of Rt. 27, Pittsfield, passed away in her sleep Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at her residence.
She was born October 9th, 1930 in Pittsfield, a daughter to the late Harold and Iva Oviatt Thompson. Priscilla attended elementary school in Pittsfield and then graduated from Youngsville High School in 1948. She then went on to the Warren Business School. She worked at the Warren Co. Court House, the New Process Co., Warren Co. Fair, and as a Tax Collector for Pittsfield Twp. She was a lifetime member of the Otterbein Church in Pittsfield were she taught Sunday school. Priscilla was an avid cook and was famous for her Parkerhouse Rolls that graced many of her dinner tables throughout her life. Her hobbies included entertaining, collecting cookbooks, and putting on a feast for family and friends for the annual Upper Allegheny Muzzle Loaders event held over Memorial Day. Priscilla never raised her voice and had a calming effect on everyone she met. She will be missed by her many friends and family.
Priscilla is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Chester H. Kibbey, whom she married in December of 1953 in Salamanca, N.Y., her children, Oran (Susan Kushner) Kibbey, Barry (Susan R.) Kibbey, and Bart (Frances) Kibbey, all of Pittsfield, 4 grandchildren; Zoe Kibbey, USN, of Seattle, Washington, Abraham Kibbey and Nicholas Kibbey, both of Pittsfield, and Zackery Kibbey of Huntington, Pa.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter Lucinda Kibbey in 1991, a sister Aileen Thompson Wolfe, and a brother James Thompson.
Friends will be received on Friday (January 18th) from 36 p.m. at the Nelson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 314 N. Main St. in Youngsville, and for 1 hour prior to a funeral service that will be held on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the Pittsfield Otterbein United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Paul Davis, former pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot in Riverside Cemetery.
