As part of a program on citizenship, students at St. Joseph's school participated in elections, but not for a legislative office. Students paid at least a quarter each, with the option of paying more, to vote on which charity would receive the money from the poll tax. When the votes were tallied, the students had chosen Paws Along the River, the Warren County Humane Society. One student representative each from grades kindergarten through fifth pictured are, left to right in grade order, Lexi Paris, Ella Beaton, Cassie Smelko, Alyssa Andersen, Ailsa Boger and Camden Schaffer presenting Humane Society Board President Marie Whipple and shelter resident Gertie with the $34.81 the election raised.
