ST. MARYS - Sheffield let Elk County Catholic know it was there on Friday, before the Crusaders pulled away for the 61-39 District 9 win.
"Overall they played extremely well," said Sheffield coach Jeff Labesky, whose Lady Wolverines are 3-6. Elk County is 8-1 overall. "We missed a couple shots that could have made it a little closer, and then the depth got to us a little bit (in the second half)."
Sheffield trailed just 9-7 after one quarter, but Elk County extended a six-point second-quarter lead to 13 by halftime.
Jen Isenberg finished with 15 points for Sheffield, which hosts Smethport Tuesday.
