January is National Soup Month, and, in celebration of this event, the Warren Public Library will sponsor its Fifth Annual Soup Recipe Contest on Monday, Jan. 21. Call the Warren Public Library at 723-4650 no later than Jan. 12 to pre-register for this event and let us know how many soups you will be entering.
Participants may enter a maximum of three recipes. The soups, along with a written copy of the recipe, must be prepared and brought to the library between 10 and 11:30 a.m. on Jan. 21 for judging. A panel of judges will taste each soup and determine the first, second and third place winners.
The three winning recipes will be served in the Slater Room on the third floor of the library on Monday, Jan. 28. The public is invited to taste these winning recipes between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Crackers and a beverage will also be served. Donations, to defray the cost of the soup luncheon, will be accepted but are not mandatory.
Recipe booklets containing all recipes submitted from this year's contest will be available at the library for a small charge. Gift cards to local merchants will be awarded to the cooks of the three winning recipes..
