DUKE CENTER - Sheffield's girls basketball team showed Kane a little something on Saturday in the championship game of the Otto-Eldred Tournament.
After losing by 27 to Kane earlier this season, the Lady Wolverines played right with 6-1 Kane in a 55-47 loss at Otto-Eldred High School.
Sheffield coach Jeff Labesky said senior leadership kept the Wolverines in the game, including two 3-pointers by Abby Labesky and Hannah Vile's first 3-pointer of the season in the fourth quarter.
"We were in it and they knew we were in it," said Labesky, whose Wolverines defeated host Otto on Friday for their third win of the season - that equals Sheffield's win total from last year.
Sheffield (3-4) trailed by five points at halftime, and then by double-digits in the third quarter before Sheffield pulled to within five points with about a minute to go.
Labesky finished with 13 points, including three 3-pointers, and Vile 11 points. Jen Isenberg led Sheffield with 14 points, and was named to the all-tournament team, along with Labesky.
Kayla Jamerson led Kane with 23 points.
