SENECA - Warren's girls basketball team started the Cranberry Tournament strong on Thursday, and finished a first-round win over Westinghouse off with Jaimie Eaton surpassing 1,000 points for her high school career.

Eaton finished with 21 points in about three quarters of work in the Dragons'68-40 win at Cranberry Area High School.

Warren plays Cranberry, which defeated (Erie) East, in Friday's tournament championship.

The Lady Dragons led 40-17 by halftime, and Eaton hit the mark in typical fashion - driving to the hoop with 2:04 left in the third quarter.

"No doubt it's obviously a huge accomplishment," said Warren coach Lisa Ruhlman, whose Dragons are 6-0. "It was a goal of Jamie's, but it never took precedent to winning basketball games.

"Coaching her has been a complete blessing," said Ruhlman of Eaton. "You never want to coach against her, you want to coach with her. My players always tell me, 'I'm glad she's on my team.' It's not only for her scoring, but her intimidation."

Eaton's night came on a night when all the Dragons played well. She added six assists and seven rebounds, D.J. Hahn had eight points and six rebounds, Paige Wilson 10 points and nine rebounds, Alexa Bupp 11 points and four steals, and Taylor Mineweaser 10 points.

"D.J. did a really nice job shooting the ball," said Ruhlman, "and defensively did a nice job."

Eaton was close to 1,000 career points to enter the season, so she took the mark in stride.

"The ultimate goal is to beat my brother,'" she joked.

Her brother, Jeff Eaton (2008), is third on Warren's all-time list of boys scorers with 1,221 points.

"Since we're at this tournament, the next step is to follow through... and win this tournament," she said.
