Vivian M. Sweetland, 90, a Youngsville resident for many years, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 24, 2012 at the Rouse Home in Youngsville, Pennsylvania.
Vivian was born at home at "Cobbs Corners" in Spring Creek Township, Pennsylvania, on January 18, 1922, a daughter of the late Alice (Garber) and Leon Mitchell. She graduated from Lottsville High School. She was married to Robert E. Sweetland on June 10, 1943. He preceded her in death in 2008.
She was employed as a beautician at Marian's Beauty Salon in Youngsville for several years and also was a Library Aide at Youngsville High School for eight years.

Vivian was a longtime member of the Youngsville First United Methodist Church where she belonged to the Christian Service Sunday School class. She was also a member of the Youngsville Chapter #478 of the Order of the Eastern Star and was a charter member of American Field Service. She was a past member of the Penn Lakes Girl Scout Council.
Surviving are a son, John (Myra) M. Sweetland, of Hudson, Ohio; 2 daughters, Janet S. Wilson, of Blairsville, Pa. and Penny (Gary) Lester, of Russell, Pa.; a sister Leah Pokosh, of Columbus, Pa.; 2 granddaughters, Nicole (DeWayne) Reeves of Blairsville, Pa. and Jennifer (Dan) Zabala of Lakewood, NY; 2 grandsons, Captain Matthew (Brianne) Sweetland of Las Vegas, Nev. and Adam Sweetland of Pittsburgh, Pa.; 5 great grandchildren, Sabrina and Meghan Zabala, Bryan Reeves, and Joshua and Jesse Sweetland; and several neices and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Mitchell and a soninlaw, Jerry A. Wilson.
Friends will be received on Thursday from noon to 2 p.m. at McKinney Funeral Homes in Youngsville where a funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 27th. Burial will follow in Warren County Memorial Park.
