The Times Observer

Santa is coming

The International Association of Firefighters, Local 1835, in conjunction with the City of Warren Fire Department will be driving Santa Claus around the City of Warren this Sunday, Dec. 23, from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m.

"We'll be doing our usual cruise through the different neighborhoods. Giving a toot of the horn in the different neighborhoods and handing out some candy canes to any kids we see after church or outside," Local 1835 President Andy Moore said. " In the morning we usually call over to the hospital if there's anybody in pediatrics or the maternity ward and stop if there's anybody younger."

The trip usually makes special stops for children unable to leave the house to see Santa, according to Moore.

Closed for holiday

The Warren-Forest Counties Economic Opportunity Council will be closed Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 24-25, for the Christmas holiday. The office will re-open at 8 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26.

The Paws Along the River Humane Society will be closed Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 24-25, for the Christmas holiday, and Tuesday, Jan. 1, for the New Year's Day holiday. It will be open from noon to 2 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 31.

For emergencies, call local police or County Control at 563-3500. Call 726-1961 and leave message for animal-related incidents.
