CORRY - Eisenhower watched an eight-point lead evaporate during a fourth-quarter Corry run and the host Beavers sent the Knights to 1-5 on the season with a 49-47 victory Wednesday at Corry Area High School.
"We should've beaten them," said Eisenhower head coach Dave Allenson. "We missed five free throws in the fourth quarter and some of those were one-and-ones where we didn't get to take the second shot. We didn't do a good job of taking care of the ball down the stretch."
The Knights, trying to shake a four-game losing streak after winning their season opener, led 39-31 after three quarters and appeared to be on their way to the second win of the season. Instead, Corry made a late run, taking the lead with just over a minute to go in the contest and leading by as many as five down the stretch.
Eisenhower tried to come back with Aaron Lundmark knocking down a three-pointer with just over five seconds remaining to get the Knights within two. Ike fouled and Corry went to the line for free throws, missing both and handing the Knights a chance to tie or win the game with a last second shot.
Eisenhower got a look at the basket, but the ball bounced off the rim, giving Corry the narrow victory.
Colin Shine finished with 23 points and Ryan Williams chipped in 12 of his own. Aaron Lundmark added eight points and Nathan O'Brien finished with four points.
Corry was a 49-30 winner in the junior varsity game. Carter Farrell paced the Knights with 18 points.
Eisenhower (1-5) will have a chance to extract some revenge on Corry when it again squares off with the Beavers during the opening round of the Corry Christmas Tournament on December 28.
