Thanks to all our wonderful volunteers especially the Boy Scouts and Mr. and Mrs. Dunn for making our Swiss steak dinner a success.

The homemakers group once again came to our rescue with many beautiful decorations for the holiday. Thanks to all of you!

With Christmas just around the corner, we will once again adopt a needy family from our area to help with the holiday as well as the children from the Ruth Smith center. Donations are greatly appreciated.

Winter still brings a variety of activities to get you out of the house. Senior night out includes dinner and shopping, a bus is provided for you if you have tickets to the concert series and lunch and bowling is scheduled for once a month. The bus will pick you up and take you home for only 25 cents each time you get on the bus.

Christmas lunch and party will be Dec. 20 with Ruth Smith pre-school children singing holiday songs.

New York city trip is May 3-6 and the cost is $579 which includes lodging, 3 breakfast and 3 dinners, ferry ride to Ellis Island, Statue of Liberty, visit to Rock center, Central Park, St. Patrick's Cathedral, Times Square, Hell's Kitchen, 911 memorial and Flight 93 Memorial in Shenksville on the way home.

It's another week to enjoy more holiday spirit with friends at the Allegheny Community Center. On Wednesday, Dec. 19, Christmas turkey dinner at noon will be served following some festive choral music performed by Eisenhower High School's Fantasia and on Friday, Dec. 21, a holiday brunch will be served at 10 a.m. On Thursday, Dec. 20, you can climb aboard the TAWC bus at the CRI parking lot at 4 p.m. and enjoy viewing the Christmas lights all over town and then stop at the Plaza Restaurant for hot chocolate on the way home. You'll need to make reservations for these seasonal events at 723-3237.

Great overnight and extended trips: American Quilters Society Quilt show, Mar. 13-15, 2013; Wildwood, NJ, May 13-17, 2013; Baltic heritage trip, Aug. 17-Sept. 2, 2013; Western National Park trip, late May into June, 2013; New York City at Christmas, 2013. Questions about these trips should be made to Margaret Sleeman, trip coordinator, at 723-7143 or 730-9364. For costs and sign-up, please call 723-3237. ACC membership is required for these trips. This is a special reminder to all trippers that the ACC Trip Policy is available at the Center.

All non-casino trips leave from the CRI parking lot located on Pennsylvania Avenue West, just over the railroad tracks on the left (along the river), unless otherwise instructed to park elsewhere. Salamanca Casino trips depart from the Big Lots parking lot at the Warren Mall, as always. Not sure, just call 723-3237!

ACC is open from 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. M-F with extended hours until 7 p.m. on Mon. & Wed. ACC is closed for all activities and meals on legal holidays and on those days when Warren County schools are closed unexpectedly due to bad weather. Hot lunches are available Mondays-Fridays at noon. You can call your reservation to 723-3237. Bistro lunch is available on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with no reservation required. Take-outs available.

Lunches

The Warren-Forest Area Agency on Aging will serve the following menu at Allegheny Community Center and other Warren-Forest centers Dec. 17-21: macaroni and cheese Monday, meatloaf Tuesday, turkey Wednesday, hamburgers Thursday and chef surprise Friday. Locations at Marienville, Sheffield, Tidioute and Endeavor will serve menus from Monday, Tuesday and Friday for the three-day sites. Eligible participation is 60 years and older with a suggested donation of $3. Call 723-3763 for information regarding congregate meal sites or center locations. Menu is subject to change based on availability.
