Women honor vets

December 11, 2012
The Times Observer

Warren Women's Christian Connection held its "Honoring Our Military" luncheon to commemorate Veteran's Day. Centerpieces of seasonal Thanksgiving arrangements adorned the tables. Favors were placecards with American flags.

Speaker Lou Nordine of Clarendon has dealt with many "bumps in the road of life," she said. But, the bumps in her life have helped her become the person she is. By the grace of God, she deals with life's circumstances in a better way. Love says "It's not the circumstances, but how one deals with them." God has great plans for Lou; she is presently pursuing a master's degree in theology. She is chairperson of Warren Women's Christian Connection.

Chaplain John Wester of Sheffield VFW Post 314 explained about honoring veterans of foreign wars. David Ford of Jamestown, N.Y., sang a medley of songs: "Amazing Grace," "God Bless America" and "When Johnny Comes Marching Home."

The group meets on the second Tuesday of each month for lunch. There are no dues. The non-denominational gathering is open to all women.
