Warren started 2-0 in Warren County Tip-off Classic with a 69-39 victory over Eisenhower on Saturday at Warren Area High School.

Despite a large margin of victory, the Dragons didn't run away with the game. The teams traded buckets throughout the first stanza, which saw the Dragons take a 22-16 lead.

That's when the Dragons got hot.

Warren outscored Eisenhower 35-12 over the middle two quarters, including a 25-1 run that lasted over seven minutes in the second and third quarters.

"We didn't play as well as we wanted in the first quarter," said Warren coach Jeff Berdine. "We were eventually able to get the pace of the game where we wanted it, which allowed us to use our depth."

"Eisenhower struggled with our defense in the second and third quarters," he added. "You won't lose many games if you only give up 12 points in two quarters."

Matt Sandberg led all scorers with 13 points for the Dragons, while Jack Daley was right behind him with 11.

Ten Dragons scored in all.

Mark Davis just missed a double-double with nine points and 10 rebounds. Austin Jerman, Sandberg, and Tanner Stanz all had 3 assists while Colin Fantaskey and Daley each had 3 steals.

Aaron Lundmark paced the Knights with 12 points.

Warren won a junior varsity game over Eisenhower, 48-31. Max Gross led the Dragons with 13 points while Justin Wright added 12. Casey Vincent paced Eisenhower with eight points.

Sheffield 58, Youngsville 29

Sheffield didn't score early, but they did score often.

Nine of the 11 Wolverines who saw action got on the board as they defeated Youngsville, 58-29, in the final game of the 2012 Warren County Tip-Off Classic at Warren Area High School.

"Overall, it was a better effort tonight," said Sheffield assistant coach Jay Fitch. "We didn't foul as much and we did a better job running through our plays."

After a low-scoring 7-4 first quarter, the Wolverines picked up the tempo led by a trio of seniors. Brendan Winslow scored a game-high 13 points, Dylan McNeal added 11, and Shequan Wright pitched in 10.

Sheffield also saw plenty of scoring off the bench, with the reserves chipping in the remaining 24 tallies.

Youngsville (0-2) was led offensively by junior James Frazier, who finished with seven points in the loss.

The Wolverines improve to 1-1 with the win and will head into District 9 play next Wednesday when they travel to Kane. Youngsville will also be in action Wednesday when they play host to non-region opponent Commodore Perry at Youngsville High School.

Travis McLaughlin named to the East Forest Tournament all-tournament team had nine points, including two 3-pointers in the fourth, and 10 rebounds in the loss.
