Soups & Sweets held last month earned the Valley Days Committee a total of $1330 for the annual event planned next summer. Next year the group will include recipe cards with each item. Also, $272 was raised at the Altered Fate fund-raiser held at Clearview Inn. The group thanked the inn and the band for their help
Details were discussed at a Dec. 5 meeting of the group with officers Stephanie Sellen and Melissa Johnson, with 10 members, attending.
More fundraisers were discussed for upcoming months. Kristi Eck and Stephanie Sellen are working to plan a fundraiser with Frosty Jacks in the spring. Andrea Platt suggested a Marti Gras evening. Other ideas include: Burger and Beer evening, spaghetti and bread evening and a mashed potato evening.
Alissa Savitz was voted to take over the treasurer's office. Sellen will meet with John Gregory to discuss setting up the bylaws for the group.
Individuals reported on their progress for events to be held at the Valley Days 2013: Crafts: Andrea Platt, reported that she would like more vendors included; Chinese Auction: Alisha Neely and Nicole Waychoff; kids games/booths: Brittany Baker and Brandon Birchard; pageant: Stephanie Sellen; talent show: Stephanie Sellen; Saturday evening entertainment: Dustin Sellen; corn hole competition: Tiffany Haehn will include a cash prize for the winner; dunking booth: Missy and Jeff Johnson; photography contest: Kate Baker; scrapbook: Brittany and Kate Baker; and boy event: Alisha Neely
Events still in the works include pony rides with Kristi Eck, woodcutting with Allie Cherry and Tim Bennet, car show with Paula Confer, and lawnmower pulls.
Sunday, June 23, is open for a food booth. Grand Valley history will be headed up by Louis Neely. A gun raffle was discussed, but no decisions were made. The next meeting will be Jan. 23 at 6:30 p.m. at Grand Valley Fire Hall.
