The Times Observer

Betty L. Lyle, 87, formerly of Locust Street, Warren, Pa., passed on to be with the Lord, on Friday, December 7, 2012 at Rouse Warren County Home.

Betty was born September 21, 1925, in Warren, the daughter of the late Ellsworth and Genevieve Lawson Lyle. She was a lifelong Warren resident and a 1943 graduate of Warren High School. She then worked for the Bell Telephone Company, retiring after thirtyseven years of service. Betty was a member of the Covenant United Methodist Church, and the former Epworth United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Bethel Fleming Circle of the United Methodist Women, who made thousands of Health Kits to be used around the world. She also donated her time delivering for the Warren Meals on Wheels Program.

Betty was not only very active in her church, but also in knitting hats and mittens for the Salvation Army. She belonged to the 55 Plus Club, the Bell Telephone Pioneers, was an avid reader, and loved to travel. Her travels took her to the Europe, the Holy Land, and to Sweden to visit her relatives and ancestors. She loved to prepare traditional Swedish food at Christmas time, and was revered for her delicious rice pudding. She enjoyed many friends and especially her family.
