Jr. high hoops
The Beaty eighth-grade boys basketball team started its season with a 39-30 win over Floyd C. Fretz Middle School (Bradford) on Friday. The Dragons started slowly and were down by as many as nine late in the second quarter. But a strong final two minutes of the first half put them right back in the game.
In the second half, it was all Dragons.
The Dragons were led by Noah Becker with a strong inside game, scoring 13 points with nine rebounds. He was helped out by Braidy Blair, who scored 12 from the perimeter. Reed Swanson and James Sturdevant hit key free throws in the final minutes to help keep the Dragons ahead.
Tristan Davis ended with four points, and Tyler Gillotti added two as well for Beaty (1-0).
