Bernard G. King, 90, of Tunkhannock and formerly of Honesdale and Tidioute, Pa. died Sunday, December 2, 2012 at home.
He was born August 20, 1922 in Tidioute Pa., son of the late George B. and Grace McCloskey King. He was a 1940 graduate of Tidioute High School, and he received a Bachelor of Agricultural Economics degree from Penn State University in 1945. He served in the US Air Force during World War II.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Hazel Grimm King; children Edward King of Tunkhannock and Susan (Michael) Pisa of Cortland, N.Y.; grandchildren, Jennifer (Johnathon) Holder of Upper Black Eddy Pa., Rachel Pisa of Newmarket, N.H. and Brenda King, a student of Shippensburg University; great grandchildren Sarah and Alexis Holder, brother Joseph (Frances) King of West Melbourne, Fla.; Sister Nancy (William) Zeckendorf of Santa Fe, N.M.; aunt Margaret Alberth of Tidioute.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, George; sister Harriet Varner and brother James.
Bernard and his brother Jim purchased the King Lumber Company from their father in 1959. Bernard worked there until his retirement in 1972.
Bernard was an avid walker with a true appreciation of outdoor activities. He was often seen bicycling with or pushing his granddaughters in the wheelbarrow. He was a kind, gentle man known for his integrity and unconditional love. He was a member of the Tunkhannock United Methodist Church.
A memorial service be held Thursday, December 6th at 2pm at the Harding Litwin Funeral Home, 123 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock, with Rev Peter F. Geschwindner of the Tunkhannock United Methodist Church officiating, and Pastor Gary Myers of the Biblical Baptist Church officiating. Friends may pay their respects from 1p.m. until the time of the Service. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
