DANIEL STIMMELL

Daniel Evans Stimmell, 86, of 615 Rouse Avenue, Youngsville, Pa., and formerly of Route 337 Warren, Pa., passed away on Monday, December 3, 2012, at UPMC Hamot Medical Center, Erie, Pa.

Daniel was born February 9, 1926, in Denbo, Pa., the son of the late Daniel Stimmell Sr., and Emma Dingle Stimmell. Daniel graduated from Brownsville High School, and then served in Europe during World War II with the 9th Air Force as a Navigator. Upon discharge, he worked in a Coal Mine in Isabella, Pa. and attended Waynesburg College where he received his Bachelor's Degree. He later obtained his Master's Degree from Westminster College. He taught in Roseville, MI, and then moved to teach in Warren, Pa. In addition to teaching elementary school, he coached football and baseball at Warren High School. He became a Principal and served in that position until his retirement in 1989.

A man of many hats, Daniel also was an instructor at the YMCA in Archery and Basketball, and also was a "DJ" at "The Spot." He was an avid golfer and hunter. He especially enjoyed bird hunting. Additionally, he loved to fish and make homemade flies for fly fishing that he sold to major hunting retailers.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church, and more recently, Pleasant Community Church. He also belonged to the Masons Lodge #241; the Coudersport Consistory; Farrah Grotto of Warren and the Lakewood Rod and Gun Club.

He is survived by his son, Daniel M. Stimmell, and his wife, Robin, Warren, Pa., his two daughters, Peggy Peterson, and her husband, Daniel, Warren, Pa. and Patricia Lane, and her husband, Douglas, Butler, Pa.; four grandsons, Timothy Stimmell, and his wife, Mendy, Spotsylvania, VA, Michael Stimmell, and his wife, Amy, Warren, Pa., Eric Peterson, and his wife Stacy, Cary, NC and Scott Schuler, and his wife, Lacey, Warren, Pa.; one granddaughter, Amanda Wellner, and her husband, Ryan, Warren, Pa.; eight greatgrandchildren, Alexis, Elaina and Elijah Stimmell, Emma and Haley Stimmell, Hayden and Ainsley Schuler, and Lillian Wellner.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death on October 23, 2012 by his wife, Dorothy Jean Stimmell, whom he married on June 14, 1947; and two brothers, Fred and Robert Stimmell.

Friends will be received at the Peterson Blick Funeral Home, Inc., 1003 Penn Ave., E., Warren, on Thursday, December 6, from 6 to 8 p.m. and for one hour prior to a funeral service to be held there on Friday, December 7 at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Michael Poindexter, pastor, Pleasant Community Church, officiating.

Burial will follow at Warren County Memorial Park.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Warren Library Association, 205 Market St., Warren, Pa. 16365
