Concert at WAEC

Third graders from Warren Area Elementary Center will perform in a concert at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, in the gym. Each song will be conducted by a talented third grader. Having student conductors is something Ms. Bowley, the music teacher at WAEC, tried last year, and it was well received, so she is giving the opportunity to students again this year. To conduct a group of more than 150 students is a challenge. "We have quite a few talented directors," said Bowley. "It not only takes courage and a strong feel for the beat, but musicality and sensitivity to the music. When I was in eighth grade, my music teacher asked me to conduct ... 'Do You Hear What I Hear ?' Having that experience gave me great confidence, therefore I want to instill the same confidence and courage in my students." The concert will include secular as well as sacred carols. The public is invited.
