LAWRENCE GRIMES

Lawrence "Larry" P. Grimes, 65, of 3941 Cowing Rd., Lakewood, New York, passed away Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh.

Larry was born in Jamestown, New York on August 21, 1947, a son of Blanche (Ewer) Grimes Hodges, of Kennedy, New York and the late Howard Grimes. He served in the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War and was retired from New England Motor Freights, where he was a truck driver for many years.

Larry was a member of the AMVETS in Sugar Grove, the American Legion in Sugar Grove, Busti Mens Club, and the Vietnam War Group in Falconer. He loved to restore older John Deere tractors. He was an avid deer hunter and especially enjoyed "Sassie", his beloved dalmation.

He was the husband of Marian (John) Grimes whom he married July 18, 1970 in Gerry, New York.

In addition to his mother and wife, he is survived by:

Son Marty Grimes, of Jamestown, NY;

grandson Tylar Grimes, of Lakewood, NY;

Brother Howard (Debbie) Grimes, Jr., of Sinclairville, NY;

Brother Fred (Phyliss) Grimes, Jr., of Hudson, Florida;

Sister Dorothy (Carl) Hansen, of Kennedy, NY;

Brother Dwight Grimes, of Ohio;

Stepbrother John Henry Grimes;

Stepbrother Robert Grimes;

Stepdaughter Alyssa Lugten;

Stepdaughter Ashley Wickmark.

Also surviving are 2 boys that Larry was very close to, Jeff Bernette and Chip Coil. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Grimes in 2004 and a niece, Alexandria Dawn Grimes, and several aunts and uncles.

Friends are invited to call on Sunday from 24 & 68 pm at the Sugar Grove Branch of McKinney Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, Inc., 117 Main Street in Sugar Grove, where a funeral service will be held at 11 am on Monday, December 3rd. Graveside services will follow in Lottsville Cemetery, where full military honors will be presented.
