Autism-friendly Santa in Erie
A visit with Santa is often a favorite memory for parents and children, but families of children with autism and other special needs know that a trip to the mall can be especially stressful during the holidays. The Barber National Institute and the Millcreek Mall in Erie will offer children with special needs a low-key time with Santa on Sunday, Dec. 2, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in the mall's center councourse. This is before regular hours, and music will be turned off, creating a less stimulating and calmer environment. A $2 discount coupon will be offered for any parents or grandparents who would like to purchase their child's photo with Santa. The Barber National Institute will offer holiday crafts for the children to create. Information and resources will also be available for parents. For more information, call the Barber National Institute at (814) 878-5903 or visit BarberInstitute.org.
